Digital transformation is easy to describe when a project launches. New interface. New architecture. New technology.
The harder question comes later:
Did it actually create the conditions for the business to grow?
For Portugal Homes, the answer can now be measured.
Since launching its new digital ecosystem, the platform has reached 2,520 active properties, more than 210,000 sessions and 1.18 million page views, while recording a 96.5% organic engagement rate. Most significantly, its property inventory has increased by 320%.
But these results did not start with development.
They started much earlier, by questioning what the platform actually needed to become.
The challenge was bigger than a website
Portugal Homes operates in the international real estate market, connecting buyers with property opportunities in Portugal.
When Buzzvel joined the project, the goal was not simply to modernize an existing website. Portugal Homes itself was evolving.
Its digital ecosystem needed to support a transition from a primarily direct property sales operation towards a broader model capable of aggregating properties from multiple real estate companies, connecting with external partners and operating across different geographies.
That changed the nature of the project.
Instead of asking only what the new website should look like, we first needed to understand how the digital product could support the next stage of the business.
Starting with Discovery
Before designing interfaces, Buzzvel conducted a two-day, in-person Discovery workshop with key Portugal Homes stakeholders.
Marketing, sales, operations and other business perspectives were brought together to establish a shared understanding of the challenges ahead.
During the process, we explored the company's positioning, users, business priorities, brand attributes, content, SEO requirements and digital structure.
Several strategic decisions emerged.
Portugal Homes needed to place real estate more clearly at the centre of its digital experience. The property and visa propositions needed clearer separation. Different audiences required more direct paths through the ecosystem. And the platform had to become much easier to scale as its inventory, partners and geographic reach expanded.
Discovery therefore became more than preparation for UX design.
It established the logic behind the platform.
Turning insights into infrastructure
The next challenge was translating those strategic insights into a digital system capable of supporting them.
One of the most important decisions was the creation of a centralized real estate data model.
Instead of treating each digital touchpoint as an isolated destination, the new structure was designed so that property information could support multiple digital assets while maintaining greater consistency.
The architecture also needed to accommodate external partners and an expanding inventory without compromising the user experience.
At the experience level, this meant simplifying navigation, prioritizing property discovery and creating clearer journeys towards relevant commercial opportunities.
At the business level, it meant creating a foundation capable of supporting a different operating model.
The website was no longer simply presenting Portugal Homes.
It was becoming part of its growth infrastructure.
What happened after launch?
The impact is now visible in the scale of the platform.
Property inventory increased by 320%
The clearest indication of structural growth is the expansion of the property catalogue.
Since the transformation, Portugal Homes' property inventory has grown by 320%.
Today, the platform supports 2,520 active properties.
This matters because inventory growth was one of the fundamental scalability challenges identified during the project. The architecture needed to handle a significantly larger property ecosystem without turning that growth into additional complexity for users.
More than 210,000 sessions
Since launch, Portugal Homes has recorded 210K+ sessions.
Traffic alone does not define whether a digital product is successful, but it provides important context when combined with the scale of the property catalogue and how visitors interact with it.
For a platform designed around international property discovery, every session represents another opportunity to connect demand with relevant inventory.
1.18 million page views
Those sessions have generated more than 1.18 million page views.
Property platforms naturally involve exploration: comparing locations, property types and individual opportunities before taking the next step.
The volume of page views demonstrates the scale of interaction now taking place across the ecosystem and reinforces the importance of designing an architecture that can make thousands of properties navigable rather than overwhelming.
96.5% organic engagement rate
Portugal Homes has also achieved a 96.5% organic engagement rate.
This is particularly relevant because SEO was not treated as an afterthought during the project.
Search requirements were considered during Discovery and helped inform the information architecture and content foundations before the final experience was built.
The result is a platform where acquisition, content structure and experience are treated as connected parts of the same system.
The real result is the system behind the numbers
A 320% increase in inventory is a compelling result.
So are 210,000 sessions and more than one million page views.
But the most important outcome is what those numbers collectively demonstrate.
Portugal Homes now has a digital foundation capable of supporting considerably more properties, more visitors, more partners and a broader operating model than the ecosystem it replaced.
That was the real challenge from the beginning.
The visual redesign was one expression of the transformation, but the deeper work happened underneath it: understanding the business, restructuring information, redefining user journeys and designing the architecture around where Portugal Homes wanted to go next.
Discovery creates value when it changes what you build
Discovery is sometimes treated as the phase before the “real work” begins.
Portugal Homes demonstrates why that interpretation is too narrow.
The decisions made during those first workshops influenced the platform's positioning, content, user experience, SEO foundations, information architecture and underlying structure.
And those decisions can now be connected to a digital ecosystem operating at significantly greater scale.
For Buzzvel, this is ultimately what product Discovery should accomplish.
Not more documentation.
Not workshops for the sake of workshops.
But a clearer understanding of the business that leads to better product decisions — and creates the conditions for measurable growth.
+320% property inventory.
2,520 active properties.
210K+ sessions.
1.18M+ page views.
96.5% organic engagement rate.
From Discovery to design, from architecture to launch, Portugal Homes shows what happens when a digital transformation begins with the business problem rather than the interface.
